The Cariboo Cougars kicked off their BC Major Midget League playoffs with a decisive 8-2 victory over the Greater Vancouver Canadians last night. The Cougars had a different goal scorer for each of the eight goals and now hold a 1-0 series lead in the best of three series.

The Cougars had a one-goal lead after the first period. Then a five-goal second period broke the game wide open for the Cougars giving them a 7-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Greater Vancouver would add one in the third but it was too little too late as the Cougars skated away with the victory. Game two of the series goes this afternoon at 4 p.m. as the Cougars will look to knock off the Canadians and advance.
