Mina Holmes elected Tribal Chief

PRINCE GEORGE — Mina Holmes of the Tl’azt’en Nation has been elected Tribal Chief of the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council.

Holmes beat out competitors Mary Teegee and Kathaleigh George – both from the Takla Lake First Nation.

On her Facebook page, Holmes issued the following statement thanking her supporters, noting she looks “forward to working closely with all community members and I believe the strength of our collective communities as we forge forward in a future of possibilities and opportunities.”

Holmes takes over the role from previous tribal chief Terry Teegee.
