Cariboo Cougars soar to game one win over Thunderbirds

The Cariboo Cougars are one win away from being crowned BCMML champions. A win this afternoon will give them their second title in three years. This is a result of a 3-0 victory last night over the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

After no score in the first period, the Cougars got two goals in the second from Grady Thomas and Brett Fudger. That would all the scoring in the second before Curtis Hammond would make it 3-0 Cougars in the third.

Xavier Cannon got the shutout for the Cats in the game one win. The Cougars will now look to end the series this afternoon as they will look to sweep the Thunderbirds 2-0 on the road, something Fraser Valley did to the Cougars last year.

Puck drop is set for 3 p.m. this afternoon in Abbotsford.
