For the second time in three years, the Cariboo Cougars are BCMML champions. A decisive 8-2 victory yesterday after a 3-0 win Friday led to the Cougars sweeping the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds on the road, something Fraser Valley did to the Cougars one year ago.

The Cougars only had a 1-0 lead after the first period but they exploded for four goals in the second for a 5-1 lead after the second. In the third, they added three more to seal the win. Jaxon Danilec and Brendan Pigeon each had two goals for the Cougars in the win.

Next up for the Cariboo Cougars is a date with the Calgary Buffaloes in a three-game series in the Pacific Regional final. The winner of that series will advance to the national midget championship, the Telus Cup which is being held in Thunder Bay from April 22-28.
