The Timberwolves women’s basketball team has added a Viking to their roster for next season, in the form of an Alberta transfer student.

Emma vanBruinessen, from the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings, will be joining the women’s basketball team for the upcoming Canada West season. vanBruinessen played three seasons with the Vikings in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. The step up to USPORTS is one she never pictured herself making, but is excited to play the sport at the highest level.

In all three of her seasons with Augustana, the Leduc, Alberta athlete finished top five in the league in rebounds per forty minutes. Most recently, posting 16.7 boards per 40 and 8.3 per game.

The five-foot-eleven, 20 year old is studying Political Science, planning to one day work in government. She’ll join her teammates in August where she’ll be one of three fourth-years on the team, along with two seniors.
