PRINCE GEORGE – While the Spruce Kings play for the Fred Page Cup in Vernon, keeping the team on the road comes at a cost.

Spruce Kings Show Home Marketing Manager Kate McCutcheon says it costs about $6,500 a day for the team to travel, including busing, food and accomodation.

McCutcheon spearheads the Spruce Kings Showhome Lottery,  the team’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and is urging fans to get out and buy tickets before the end of the month.

So far ticket sales are sitting at about 7100, with a possible 11,000 to be sold.

The $710,000 home in Aberdeen Glenn was built by Hopson Construction, a natural fit for John Hopson a former Spruce King himself.
Hopson played forward for the Kings from 1999 – 2001, going on to play for the University of Alaska and the University of Maine. His involvement in the showhome build is a way for him to give back to the team that helped him and his brother Keenan.

With the anticipation that Prince George is a last minute town, there will be extra staff on hand over the next two weeks as tickets remain on sale until April 30th. The draw takes place May 3 at 3 pm.
