The UNBC women’s basketball team graduated Calgary-born guard Abby Gibb this past season and now they’ve found a new Calgary-born guard to take her place. The Timberwolves announced today the commitment of grade 12 student Anastasia Soltes of Calgary’s Henry Wise Wood High School. The guard is coming off an MVP season where she posted a 39-point game and helped lead her school to the Division 3 City Championships. The five-foot-seven guard was also the recipient of her team’s Most Coachable Award. She plans to study environmental sciences and visited the campus this winter, where she was blown away by the serene environment of the school. Soltes will join the Timberwolves for training camp in August.
