Roller derby offering a chance to try a new activity for students

PRINCE GEORGE – Several community schools in Prince George have a new creative way to let young girls be active while being in a safe environment. The name of the game? Roller Derby.
Students are taking up the challenge of roller derby as part of a new program aimed at getting students active in a safe controlled environment.
Roller derby may not be a sport that everyone is familiar with but it has been going on in Prince George for some time. The program wanted to focus on a sport that was outside the norm.
Another goal of the program was to provide girls with an opportunity to get active in an environment without some of the pressures that go along with your standard gym class. While there may have been apprehension at the start the students are enjoying it.
