PG is a great place to be a homeowner

I was born and raised in Prince George, and I’ve spent most of my career in real estate. When I co-founded Team Powerhouse Realty back in 2007, I knew that Prince George was going to be a great town to set up a real estate business for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, as REALTORS®, we want to help people find homes they love, and that’s much easier when the average house price is still achievable compared to the average income. In other BC cities, even older homes that need lots of TLC are now out of reach for many families.

Our city is big enough to offer a range of property option in a variety of settings, and small enough that we don’t have to worry about long commutes. Like every real estate market, we are sometimes limited by the inventory available, and some buyers may need to wait for their perfect home to come onto the market, but most don’t have to wait long to find the home that meets their needs. From rural acreages to popular suburban neighbourhoods, beautiful character homes, mobile homes, seniors’ complexes, custom-built dream homes, hobby farms, fixer-uppers, mortgage helpers, lakefront cabins, modern townhomes and downtown condos, we’re fortunate to be able to offer our buyers so much choice.

There’s a new energy in Prince George that we’re seeing in the investment businesses and developers are making in our community. That’s good news for homeowners, who get to take in all these new experiences. In the last five years alone, we have welcomed hotels, restaurants, cafés, breweries and shops that have brightened our urban landscape with new buildings and revamped storefronts.

Other organizations have also invested in our city, including UNBC’s Wood Innovation and Design Centre and the Wood Innovation Research Lab. Plans are underway for the construction of the new downtown pool, and Park House Condos, a four-phase development that will bring residents to the heart of our city, is under construction near City Hall.

Prince George has always been a great place to live thanks to our friendly community and access to the outdoors. Now we’re building an urban environment we can be proud of, too. Thanks to the many developments that have taken place in recent years, Prince George residents have never had more choice when it comes to finding a home conveniently located near the businesses that make our city vibrant.
