PRINCE GEORGE – After 33 years in law enforcement, North District RCMP’s top cop will be retiring at the end of the week.

Chief Superintendent Warren Brown started his career in policing with the city of Winnipeg in his early twenties.

According to Brown, it was all the opportunities he had in small-towns around BC that made his career so fulfilling. After a few years as an officer in Winnipeg and North Delta, Brown decided to follow in his grandfather and father’s footsteps and join the RCMP in his thirties.

Brown found himself in Merritt, where he received his first exposure to the small-town policing he was looking for.

The smaller communities gave him the opportunities to learn how to engage with all levels of government.

After leaving Williams Lake, Brown took the position of Superintendent at the city detachment in Prince George. A few years later, Brown earned himself the opportunity to oversee policing in all of Northern BC.
