Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum: Amplify Prince George
The Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum is an organization dedicated to showcasing Northern Interior BC’s heritage in rail & forestry. They work to highlight how the two industries are connected, and educate residents on the ways they have impacted the landscape, people, and region. Not only will visitors learn about the history & details of the vehicles, tools, and industries, but they’ll also learn about the history of Prince George & it’s growth into what it is now.
The museum houses a wide range of trains – and even runs a ride-able train for families to enjoy during their trip to the compound. Families can also get up close & personal – climbing inside & around some real trains to see the mechanics & layout of the machines. They also house different exhibits from time to time. The gallery is free to visit and view, and is currently home to a fabric artists’ exhibit.
The museum also hosts a wide range of classes to educate the youth & adults here in the community. Cheese-making, forestry history in Northern Central BC, silk-painting, and more are all offered by the museum, and provide a great way to broaden horizons while learning something new. A list of all the programs offered is available on their website: https://www.pgrfm.bc.ca/
