Both the University of Northern BC and the College of New Caledonia have seen enrolment rise this Fall form the previous year.
“We have three basic groups of students. Undergraduate domestic, undergraduate international and graduate students,” explains Dan Ryan, the Vice President, Academic for UNBC. “Our international students are up approximately 25 to 30 percent over last year, our graduate students are up around 10% over last year and our undergraduate students are up a little bit, maybe a percent or so.”
CNC is reporting an overall increase in enrolment of about nine percent.
“About a quarter of our population, our student population, is international students. Overall the enrolment numbers, including international students have gone up nine percent,” says Alyson Gourley-Cramer, Executive Director of Communications at CNC. “As well, in Burns Lake, we look at head count from this year to last year. We’ve actually gone from 81 head-count students to 150 this year.”
Both institutions attribute their increases to strong recruitment efforts and solid reputations.
