UNBC Promotes Engineering to Girls
Oct 5, 2017 | 2:16 PM
Less than 13 percent of licensed engineers in Canada are women. The University of Northern BC is hoping to change those numbers, and start attracting girls to the profession at a young age. Despite a steady increase – women still remain under-represented in this field. UNBC is starting young with a recruitment day next weekend, where Associate Researcher Stephanie Wall will be a featured speaker. Go ENG Girl is a free opportunity for Grade 7 – 10 girls and their parents or guardians to visit UNBC October 14th and learn about the world of engineering. Interest has been so great that the 50 spots for the program have already been filled – hopefully an indicator more females may be pursuing the career.
