Officials are offering tours to the public on Wednesday of the 47 year old Four Seasons Pool facility.
The media had the chance to look at the aging facility, one that according to Architect Doug Wournell of Dialog Design, will start falling apart in 5 years.
“I wouldn’t give this pool much more than 5 years before major issues start to arise.” said Wournell.
“This pool was designed in 1970. It didn’t look at things like accessibility or slippery tiles.”
The cement walls underneath the pool, are seeing chemicals seep through, and water stains are noticeable on the ceiling tiles.
A new facility will cost $35 million dollars, and will be voted on at a referendum next week, along with a vote on a new fire hall # 1.
Advanced polls open Wednesday at city hall and UNBC.
