Update: One Dead In Rollover Crash North Of Bear Lake

Oct 19, 2017 | 9:00 AM

RCMP have confirmed the highway just north of Bear Lake is now open in both directions.

A woman has been killed in a single vehicle rollover along Highway 97, approximately 10 kilometres north of Bear Lake.
RCMP were called to the scene shortly after 8:10am. Mounties say the initial investigation suggests the woman lost control of her car while crossing a bridge, crossed the centre line and rolled into the ditch. The victim and lone occupant of the vehicle, was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mounties say the bridge was likely icy at the time of the crash. They’re advising all drivers to be aware of changing road conditions as temperatures cool to below freezing overnight.
Highway 97 is expected to remain closed through most of the afternoon, while investigators complete their work.
