In an effort to address the feral cat population in the city, the BC SPCA North Cariboo Branch has trapped and spayed 221 cats. According to the local SPCA there are several feral cat colonies in the city. At just over a years time the local SPCA has trapped the feral cats and returned them to their colonies. The local SPCA says, “Doing this work prevents the population from growing further and also improves the health of the feral cats.” With help from a PetSmart Canada Grant program award to the shelter, the animals were trapped, neutered and then returned to roam free.
