Successful Start for Sip Wine Festival

Northern BC’s first multi-day wine festival is back in Prince George for a second year. Sip Wine Festival kicked off last Friday and some events have been sold out. The festival was created to bring more excitement for the wine industry to the north. “We’re trying really hard to bring events that you wouldn’t typically see,” said festival spokesperson, Carlie Whitwham. The festival has events running every night, from five-course meals at local restaurants to information sessions and tastings. The festival was built off the success of Theater Northwest’s annual wine event. “They’re quite well established and wineries come for that, so we figured let’s expand on this.”

BC’s northern-most winery is included in the festivities this week. Northern Lights Estate has added a few extra events to the lineup this year. “It’s not about someone who knows a lot about wine, this is about learning and growing with the event,” said owner, Doug Bell. The events are for both wine lovers and newbies. For more information visit www.sipwinefest.com.
