Theatre Northwest Has Christmas In Mind
Theatre Northwest will be hosting a classic Christmas favourite with a modern twist leading up to the holidays.
The production is “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play.”
It’s put on in the way as a radio play of the forties, when “It’s a Wonderful Life was released.”
None of the sounds generated for the entire production are digital … rather they are produced with props. For example, the sound of a train is generated with a box of macaroni and a wooden train whistle.
And there’s another twist. It incorporates Prince George radio history.
“Because there are commercial breaks there are commercial break [during the fictional radio show] and we actually have locals that are going to have their commercials jingled and spoken about, explains Jack Grinhaus, Artistic Director of Theatre Northwest. “We’ve also found old commercials from that period of time. There’s CN Rail one that we’re throwing in.”
Opening night is November 24th and runs through to December 13th. You can get tickets online or at Books and Company on Third Avenue.
