Comedy For A Cause
The power of laughter is helping to raise money for a worthy cause, thanks to two long-term local theatre producers. Ted Price and Anne Laughlin will be producing a play, called The Fabulous Lipitones, that’ll be donated to United Way of Northern British Columbia. The two producers plan to raise $60,000 for Prince George’s most vulnerable adults and children. The theatre production will be from March 2nd to 18th of next year at ArtSpace, upstairs of Books & Co. Tickets are available at Books & Co. or call (250) 563-6637.
About the Play
“As middle-aged ‘wannabe stars,’ The Fabulous Lipitones have the big dream of winning the Barber Shop Quartet Championships. But then, in the semi-finals, their leader keels over trying to reach a note too far. Can they possibly find and rehearse a replacement with the Championships only weeks away? Is this the end of their dream?
While on the phone with car trouble, they overhear in the background the marvellous singing of the service station’s newest mechanic. Little do the Lipitones know that what they are hearing is something and someone entirely different than what they imagine.
The new mechanic is sent right over for a try-out. And that’s where the fun and surprises really begin. And never end!
The judges will never forget that Championship and the antics of The Fabulous Lipitones. And neither will you!”
