Final Animal Control Bylaw Approved

Nov 23, 2017 | 1:44 PM

Council has given a fourth and final reading to a new animal control bylaw, effectively making it a reality. It makes a number of changes to the former bylaw, such as setting out new definitions for nuisance and dangerous dogs and where dogs can be left off-leash. It also sets out new rules around cat ownership.  However, the new rules won’t kick in until the new year.
In the meantime, the City will be undertaking an educational campaign for pet owners, which will be launched in a couple weeks. Details of the report to Council can be found at F.2 on November 4th meeting agenda, located here.
