Conference Board CEO Urges Innovation
PRINCE GEORGE — The President and CEO of the Conference Board of Canada addressed a packed house at the Natural Resources Forum dinner to launch the two and a half day event. Dr. Daniel Muzyka told the crowd that economic growth will drop this year, below three percent experienced last year. However, he added the repurchase sector could stem that decline. He says the industry needs to look beyond our own borders and sell the expertise we have in the sector.
But he was equally quick to point out the challenge.
“We are cooking the planet,” he told the crowd. “We need to worry about that.”
But he was quick to point out that “lots of resource sectors are acting.”
Dr. Muzyka also noted we as a nation need to invest in innovation. Canada is terrific at consulting but the pits at doing, creating the BANANA, in other words, “Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything.”
