Super Blue Blood Moon

PRINCE GEORGE — A celestial event is in store for Prince George residents on Wednesday, January 31st between 3 am and 6 am. A rare super blue blood moon combines with a total lunar eclipse.

A blue moon is a full moon that comes twice in the same month, while a blood moon happens when the moon appears to turn red as it passes through the earth’s shadow during an eclipse, and a super moon is when the moon appears larger because it is closer to the earth.

According to the President of the Prince George Observatory Dayton Pollard, it’s best to view the moon with binoculars and avoid using a telescope as it may harm your eyes.

Most of the province expected to be covered in clouds this week, making it harder to see.
