Former Cougars defenceman and current Cougars part-owner Dam Hamhuis reached a major milestone last night. The 35-year-old played in his one-thousandth career NHL game, which is no easy task. Here’s a look at a spry young Hamhuis when he suited up for the Cougars from 1998-2002. The Smithers product was eventually drafted 12th overall by Nashville. He played 6 seasons with the Predators, then 6 seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, and is now in his second season with the Dallas Stars. Only 105 other defenceman in NHL history have ever played a thousand games.
