Province Announces Plans For New Hospital In Terrace

TERRACE — Terrace is now one step closer to getting a new hospital built. BC Health Minister Adrian Dix announced today that the concept plan has been approved and it’s onto the business planning stage to finalize all the details. The business plan phase will focus on finalizing the details, such as the budget and scope of the new facility. That’ll take about 12 to 18 months, but once approved, shovels will be in the ground, beginning construction. The new facility will be twice the size of the existing hospital, Mills Memorial.
“This is a great day for our district. Healthcare close to home is vital for all of us who live in the north. The North West Regional Hospital District understands the importance of this project in strengthening our existing health-care facilities,” said Harry Nyce, North West Regional Hospital District chair. “We look forward to seeing the business plan proceed.”
Northern Health board chair Colleen Nyce says, “This has been a collaborative project between the Province of B.C., the North West Regional Hospital District, Northern Health and the people residing in the many communities served by Mills Memorial Hospital.”
