PRINCE GEORGE- Mr. PG is an iconic mascot for our city, and it turns out he’s well travelled. What started off as a tribute to our forestry industry, has turned into a symbol of “home” for the community. Lydia Troc has brought her plush version of Mr. PG all over the world. “It’s a conversation starter for people and the more I brought him with me travelling to different places the more people got engaged and wanted to know who he was,” said Troc. She shared the photos of Mr. PG on Facebook, and the reaction from the community is what inspires her to keep bringing him along. It’s a trend that’s growing on social media.

“If you search that hashtag on Instagram, you’ll see kids cuddled up with that Mr. PG doll, you’ll see grandparents, you’ll see adults walking around and posing him in different amazing places around the world it’s really amazing to see,” said Exploration Place online marketing manager, Lisa Connor. “It was really exciting to see how people responded to him, and how popular he was.”

The plush dolls aren’t the only version of Mr. PG that have made it across the world. The Lions Club made its own version, made of metal, in the 60’s. He was brought to an international conference and went missing for 10 years. He was found in a Scottish pub, being used as a beer tap, with mementoes from his travels.

From meeting celebrities, to visiting the Olympics, Mr. PG is an iconic figure in the City of Prince George, no matter where he is.
