PRINCE GEORGE- The 42nd annual Prince George dance festival is taking place this week. About 500 dancers from across the region and as far north as Whitehorse are in town to compete. The festival brings in two adjudicators to judge each performance. Dancers have been practising since September to prepare for the festival. For some senior dancers, it’s bittersweet as it’s the last opportunity to dance in their hometown festival. “The feeling is home,” said Shayla Dyble, “dance competition is something that happens every year, it’s really comforting and exciting.”
The festival kicked off on Saturday and will continue until Friday. The awards gala wraps up the event at Vanier Hall. For details, visit PG Dance Festival.
