Prince George Resident Dies In Smithers Vehicle Accident

SMITHERS – A 21-year-old Prince George resident has died following a single-vehicle incident Saturday night. According to Smithers RCMP, three people were in the vehicle travelling on Railway Ave in Smithers when the car went off the road and rolled into the ditch. 

The 21-year-old  was ejected from the vehicle and died shortly afterwards at Bulkley Valley District Hospital. A second passenger was treated for minor injuries.

The 22-year-old male driver fled the scene on foot but was subsequently located, medically assessed and arrested. He is currently in police custody.

Smithers Staff Sergeant Rob Mitchell says they are continuing to investigate a number of serious Criminal Code offences.
