PRINCE GEORGE – There’s a buzz in the Hart community as work is underway on the new Kelly Road Secondary School replacement.  Although there’s been a later than anticipated start to site preparation its hoped the targeted opening date of the fall of 2020 can be achieved.

A lower mainland company the successful bidder on the 31 million dollar project with a completion date set for summer of 2020.  With that in mind the district has moved quickly to begin.

A number of user groups in the Hart area as well as parents and students have been part of the consultation process on the rebuild of the school, with a footprint similar to the current Duchess Park but tailored to the Kelly Road school community.

The new school will be much brighter and have a larger capacity,  able to house 900 students once complete.  In the meantime,  Kelly Road students will remain at the current aging facility built in the 1960s and added onto many times for another two school years.
