Smoky Day In Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE- A thick blanket of smoke could be seen covering the city today. It’s expected to continue until the end of the week when the weather changes. The smoke is mainly coming from the Northwest Fire Centre where there are a number of large fires that are burning thousands of hectares of forest. Strong wind in that region is moving the smoke east and it is settling in our region. The air quality in Prince George has been rated a high health risk today. That means people with pre-existing health problems, the elderly, and infants, are the most at risk of developing symptoms. If you are experiencing difficulty breathing or coughing consider staying indoors until the smoke clears and purchasing an air conditioner that filters the air. You can also seek out a public place with air conditioning like the library or the mall. Avoid strenuous outdoor activity, like jogging, while the air quality is poor.
