PRINCE GEORGE – Some of the people affected by the wildfires are making their way to the CN Centre escaping the fire and smoke because of the Shovel Lake forest fire. Some evacuees were asked to leave by vehicle, while others like Raphel Joseph, a resident of the Yekooche community, chose to escape the fires with a two-hour boat ride to Fort St. James on the smoke-covered Stuart Lake. More evacuees are expected to arrive in the city. Currently, all evacuees requiring accommodation are in local hotels and motels.
