One Step Closer To The Blackburn Remax All Wheels Park
PRINCE GEORGE – One year ago David Mothus and the Blackburn Community Association started putting together a plan for the Blackburn Remax All Wheels Park. The idea for the Park came about when parents in the community showed concern for the safety of children playing along streets with no sidewalks in the area and wanting kids to put down their x-box to get fresh air. When the project began and everything started to come together, organizers quickly realized they would need roughly 3 times the amount of the estimated budget to complete the park.
Monday evening at City Council it was a unanimous vote to give Mothus and the BCA a 90 thousand dollar enhancement that will be re-voted on at the budget meeting in January 2019. Mothus says without the grant it would take years to fundraise the money and the project would go on hold for years. But thanks to the City, the building of the park is one step closer to coming together in 2019.
Expedia has Prince George ranked the 5th most active city in Canada and with the Blackburn Remax All Wheel Park, Council members say this may help the city move up the list.
