Northern BC Hockey Tears Down Tiers For Rezoning

Some changes to BC Hockey are upon us as another season approaches. Instead of Northern BC teams each building a roster within their own city, zone teams are now being formed in the North. It’s a pilot project that’s been adapted in the Okanagan, East Kootenays, and Yukon regions of BC over the last two seasons and will allow the North-Central Zone to pull from a wider range of talent. The zone spans from 100 Mile House to Mackenzie, and as far West as Prince Rupert. As opposed to the normal Tier 1 format, Bantam AA teams will be formed in Prince George and Fort St. John this year, and a midget AA team will be housed in PG as well. The second phase of tryouts for the new clubs, go off this weekend at the Elksentre.
