PRINCE GEORGE – Hundreds of bottles and cans were collected during the Cariboo Rocks the North music festival. Waste Managment Canada joined forces with Prince George Recycling to make sure these cans were put to good use.

1,370 dollars worth of recycling were brought in to the Return It Centre after the event. Waste Managment has decided to donate the money to the YMCA of Northern British Columbia. The Y will be putting the money towards the YMCA Strong Kids Program, Canada Camp Kanannaq, Aurora Leadership and Beyond the belt. In the past, Waste Managment has done the same thing at the BCNE donating money from bottles and cans to the 4H Club. Scott Dobie, the district manager of WM believes it was an easy choice to donate this money to the YMCA of Northern BC and says “It was a natural fit for us.”

The company will continue donating to the Y through their next event, the Labour Day Classic Road Race at the Civic Centre.
