Bike Registration To Help End Bike Theft

Aug 29, 2018 | 11:00 AM

PRINCE GEORGE – A series of bike registration events are taking place over the next few weeks, in order to help reduce the number of bike thefts in the city. Bike owners are encouraged to attend one of the events to register their bicycles for free by the bike registration crew. All you have to do is provide information such as ownership details, serial number and photos of the bicycle. If your bike is stolen, that information can be sent to other registered bikers through an alert notification on the smartphone app. It can also be provided to police and insurance companies.

The first event will take place at St. Mary’s School at 1088 Gilette Street on Wednesday, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. The second one will be on September 5th from 5-7pm at the Hart Drugs/Home Hardware on 6707 Dagg Road. The next one will on September 8th from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Otway Recreational Area. The last one will be on September 15th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Guerrilla Bike Fest.

Local RCMP have partnered with 529 Garage, which is a digital bicycle registration, reporting and recovery network, to help lower the number of bike thefts and return more stolen bikes to their owners.
