PRINCE GEORGE- Local MP Todd Doherty is speaking out about the decision by the Federal Court of Appeal to overturn government approval of the pipeline. He’s calling out the Trudeau government for purchasing the pipeline, putting taxpayers on the hook for 4.5 billion dollars, without properly consulting First Nations groups. He says the pipeline is crucial for oil and gas workers across the country, and regional economies that would benefit from the expansion. He adds, there are 43 First Nations communities that were on board with the expansion that are now in limbo. “We have to do everything in our power to make sure we’re standing up for Canadians and Canadian jobs,” said Doherty.  Meanwhile, a local activist says there are many other First Nations communities that are celebrating after they say they weren’t properly consulted. “It’s another example of the government thinking they can come in and do whatever they want, this has been us standing up and saying no,” said Nipawi Kakinoosit, “that was really exciting.”
