School Repairs Wrapping Up

PRINCE GEORGE – Glenview Elementary School is abuzz with activity today, as crews are gearing up to pave the parking lot. It is just one of the numerous schools in District 57 to see some attention.

Several schools also got a new roof, while other had some internal work done, all to get them ready for the new school year, with all students heading back on Wednesday.

“Summertime really is the time to do that,” says Marilyn Marquis-Forster, Superintendent of School District 57. “Last summer was a bit more of a challenge. We had involvement with evacuees earlier in the summer. And our Facilities folks stepped up to help in that process, which put us in kind of a catch-up situation. “

She says the district is also looking at the water issues in several schools, which have found to have high levels of lead.
