Asay Adds To Canadian Bronze Medal Win Over USA

PRINCE GEORGE – Canada stepped up to the plate on Friday to play for the bronze medal at the Women’s Baseball World Cup. The game was 3-3 until the tenth before Canada put up 5 runs and held the Americans to just 2 for the 8-5 final. The 2 hour and forty-five-minute game started with Prince George’s Amanda Asay on the mound. She threw 5 and two thirds with zero earned runs and 3 swinging strikeouts.
It’s Canada’s 4th bronze and 6th medal out of 8 tries at the tournament, having won 2 silvers in the past.
Asay has been a member of the Canadian women’s baseball team since 2005 and with this bronze medal around her neck, she now has five medals from the World Cup.
