PRINCE GEORGE- The Provincial State of Emergency has been rescinded due to cooler temperatures and progress by fire crews. It was originally declared on August 15 and extended once to ensure all resources could be streamlined to fight wildfires across BC. The Province has decided the powers granted under a state of emergency is no longer needed, and the emergency response can return to standard procedures. However, the wildfire season is not over. There are still 485 fires burning, with 19 evacuation orders affecting nearly 2 thousand people, and 39 evacuation alerts affecting approximately 4848 people. The 2018 wildfire season has scorched more than 1.3 million hectares of land.
