New And Improved Omineca Arts Centre
PRINCE GEORGE – The Omineca Arts Centre has moved to a bigger and brighter location in downtown Prince George. A grand re-opening was held at the new space on Saturday featuring a number of local talents.
Omineca has been helping artists and performers showcase their talents for just over a year now. As their lease ran up at their old location, they decided it was time for a change. The new space on Victoria Street is bigger, in a busier area and now includes washrooms. With fresh white walls, board members say their goal in this new location is to build the arts community and support growing artists. They want to make art accessible to everyone who is walking by, as well as make a space that artists can showcase their work. Jennifer Pighin, one of the board members says she’s happy with the new spot.
“I feel like this space is a higher profile space where there is high traffic throughout the day. We are in a very close proximity of downtown not far from where we used to be and I think the space itself, the facilities have a lot more to offer for our artists in regards to having a higher capacity, more wall space and just lots of opportunity for collaboration in this sort of location.”
The Omineca Arts Centre located at 369 Victoria Street is now open to all ages, artists and performers.
