Riders Gearing Up For 17th Annual Tour de North
PRINCE GEORGE- Among the many first responders participating in the 17th annual Cops for Cancer Tour de North there are a handful of community members. The tour raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society, 80 per cent goes toward pediatric cancer research and the other 20 per cent helps send kids with cancer to summer camp. Bob Hillhouse was asked to apply and has been training for a year for the tour that gets underway this Friday. He says he has four children of his own, so the choice to raise money for pediatric cancer research was a no-brainer. He says he has raised around 11 thousand dollars. The tour starts at Heather Park Friday at nine and continues for eight days to Prince Rupert. Along the way, the 35 riders will stop at elementary schools to promote healthy living. The team has raised nearly 150 thousand dollars but hopes to surpass 300 thousand. To donate, visit the Tour de North team page.
