About 200 Speeding Tickets Issued In School Zones Since School Began

PRINCE GEORGE – In the first two weeks of school, there have been 208 speeding tickets issued by police. They include 121 speeding over 30 km/hr in a school zone, 15 speeding over 30 km/hr in a playground zone, 68 speeding over the posted limit in areas frequented by children, and four excessive speeding tickets for 45 km/hr over the posted speed limit in a school or playground zone. There were also nine tickets for using a cell phone while driving and six tickets for not wearing a seatbelt. One person who drove to school to pick up their kids was arrested and charged for refusing to provide a breath sample. RCMP continue to remind motorists to obey the 30 kilometres per hour speed limit in school and playground zones.
