PRINCE GEORGE – As the long weekend approaches, the City is encouraging people to get out an enjoy the many trails.

“It’s amazing, isn’t it? For a community of our size, how many different trails that we have,” says Robyn McConkey, Community Coordinator for the City’s Parks Division. ” We have paved trails, we have rustic trails, we have trails in neighbourhood parks, like Corporal Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park, Cottonwood Island Park and  Forests For the World.”

In fact, the City has surpassed the 100-kilometre mark for its trails, with the completion of the Corporal Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park. But the City says there are no plans to add to the existing trail system while next year’s focus will be on one particular park.

“Heritage River Trail,” says Michael Le Morvan without hesitation. “So the idea is to do erosion control all along the Nechako riverbank from the Cameron Street bridge all the way to the end of Cottonwood Island Park at the Fraser. It’ a multi-year project.”
