UNBC Recognized for Gains in Research Funding
PRINCE GEORGE – UNBC has been recognized for making significant gains in research funding in a national ranking of Canadian universities.
Every year there is a top 50 list for research universities in Canada and UNBC has been on this list for many years. Out of that ranking, a top three is chosen. This year UNBC is being recognized as having the second largest growth in research income for a primary undergraduate university for Fiscal 2017.
“It feels fantastic,” Geoff Payne, Vice President of Research and Graduate Programs says. “I’m so proud you know for the research community here at UNBC and all of their hard work. I’m so happy with the students that are involved with the faculty in research projects. I’m so happy for the staff you know and their support of our research community and it really speaks to the things that we’ve been putting in place over the last number of years that have come to fruition and we’ve been able to make a difference. This ranking today shows that we’ve been able to make that difference.”
UNBC research funding increased by 29.8 percent from 7.6 million to 9.9 million. The funding is based on grants, contributions, or contracts from external sources.
