PRINCE GEORGE — The city is responding to a call by Fortis BC to turn down the thermostat in the wake of the October 9th Enbridge pipeline explosion.

Temperatures at the Kin Centre, CN Centre, Elks Centre,  Connaught Youth Centre and the two offices at the public works yard on 18th avenue have been reduced and will continue until natural gas is at full capacity.

Leland Hanson, Manager of Civic Facilities says “we are turning down our temperatures two degree celsius, so in administration buildings that’s down to 20 degrees celsius, and in our arenas from 16 down to 12 degrees celsius.”

The larger civic buildings in the downtown are heated by the District Energy Plant allowing temperatures to stay the same.
