PRINCE GEORGE – There are only three days left for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign and so far they’re falling short of their fundraising goal. Donations are currently at $168,787.17, which only leaves $81,212.29 left to meet the goal of $250,000.

Mike Leland of the Salvation Army says, “We can’t and don’t do this alone. This is really something that the public drives and that is why we are making our plea. The reasons are not always clear, but this year we are close to $1 million shy of our goal in B.C. and that does give us cause for concern.”

The kettle campaign allows Sally Ann to help individuals and families with basic necessities of life, such as food, clothing and shelter. These contributions also allow The Salvation Army to continue operating its programs, such as substance abuse recovery, housing supports, job and skills training, and budgeting and education classes, which help people find a way out of poverty, permanently. Every donation to a Christmas kettle remains in the community in which it was given, in order to help local people in need. Last year, The Salvation Army helped over 1.7 million people.
