PRINCE GEORGE – Update: The Quesnel RCMP has wrapped up its investigation of this matter.

Sgt. Chris Riddle says the man in question went to the Quesnel RCMP detachment this morning to provide his version of the event and “are satisfied the man’s intent was not to scare or harm the boy.”

Earlier: Quesnel police are looking into the report of a man approaching a teen Tuesday morning in the Dragon Lake area.

Police say around 7:45 a 14 year old boy who was waiting at the school bus stop on Quesnel Hydraulic Road near Dragon Lake Elementary, was approached by a man in a pickup truck and was offered a ride. When the boy declined the offer the man drove off.

The man is described as Caucasian in his mid 50s to early 60s, clean cut, wearing a brown work jacket and driving a black early to mid 2000s four door Ford Pickup truck.

While the Quesnel RCMP are not deeming this occurrence to be suspicious they would like to speak with this man to determine his intentions.

The public is reminded to know their surroundings and remain vigilant and continue to make wise decisions when it comes to offering or accepting rides from unknown people. The rule of thumb should be don’t offer or accept a ride from anyone you don’t know.

The driver, or anyone who may have witnessed this interaction or knows the identity of this man, is asked to call the Quesnel RCMP Detachment to speak with an investigator at (250) 992-9211.
