February the coldest on record for Prince George: Environment Canada

PRINCE GEORGE — Environment Canada says February in Prince George was the coldest on record.

Meteorologist Carmen Hartt says the mean temperature for the month was minus 17.5, a full three degrees colder than the previous record of minus 14.5 degrees set back in February 1949.

She blames the frigid temperatures on a persistent Arctic air mass that stuck around all month.

Hartt expects the chilly temperatures to remain until mid-March when she expects seasonal weather norms will return.
