PRINCE GEORGE- School district 57 is getting a helping hand from the provincial government. The district is getting just over $1.5 million dollars for some much-needed upgrades at schools within the district. The money comes as part of the School Enhancement Program.

The district was one of many across the province that received a piece of the provinces $20.6 million dollar increase in funding over last year’s numbers. The money will be going towards a dust collection system replacement at Heather Park Elementary, replacing the electrical transformers at Foothills and Spruceland Elementary, and changing out a hot-water heating boiler plant at Peden Hill Elementary.

“B.C. students deserve to have the best educational experience possible, that’s why we’re providing $1.5 million for much-needed enhancements at three Prince George schools — nearly $620,000 more than the district received two years ago,” said Rob Fleming, Minister of Education in a statement to CKPG.

“With this funding in hand, the Prince George School District can invest more of their resources directly into classrooms and student success.”
