Exploration Place looking to digitize its archive
PRINCE GEORGE- Exploration Place has over one million pieces of archival items in its collection and now they want to digitize all of that to make it easier for people to access that information.
The current system was put in place back in the ’90s before online databases became mainstream. Now, that software is out of touch and needs to be upgraded to be able to accommodate all of the archives that are stored in the vault.
There are roughly 100,000 pieces of archives on the current software that will need to be transferred over to the new software along with the other 900,000 pieces of archived material.
The overhaul of the software is in the range of $200,000 and in a perfect world, the museum can have the new system going live by this time next year.
