Mayors’ Caucus wraps up in Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE – About thirty mayors from across BC were in the city for the past two, looking at a number of issues, but honing in on a trio.
“What we did talk about was economic development with social development and how they interchange with each other. We talked about Clean BC. That’s something all of us have to work on,” says Val van den Broek, the Mayor of Langley City, who says there was also discussion around emergency management. “And, that really, is province-wide as well.”
The visit also involved tours of the City’s District Energy System, which is used to heat civic facilities in the downtown, the Wood Innovation and Design Centre and the Wood Innovation and Research Lab, which was particularly interesting for van der Broek.
“We’re actually building an apartment building with that technology called the Legacy in Langley City. The first of its kind. So it was very cool to go there and see how it’s done.”
